Hiiiiiii from the Disch household! We are pretty pumped about summertime, can you tell? From planning trips, celebrating our upcoming (third!!) anniversary, backyard BBQs with friends, keeping up with our ever-producing garden, enjoying quiet moments of reading and studying, babysitting fun little kiddos, and doing lots of driving and spending time together, we’ve stayed pretty busy already.

I am always inspired by seeing what other people are up to through photos, so I thought I’d share some glimpses of summer through my lens. I feel like I’ve been able to, lately, soak up all the little things in life that bring joy, whether temporal or eternal, and find myself so grateful these days for life, enjoyment, friends, marriage, the outdoors, the sunshine… God has given us so much more than we deserve. What are you thankful for today? There is just so much, isn’t there. 🙂

What are your summertime favorites? Whether small (like lip gloss) or big (like road trips), I’d love to hear! Have you blogged about these? Then share your link below in the comments section.

MINTED ART PRINT CHALLENGE is having another design contest, and I thought I’d take a stab at it again. This time around, it’s an Art Print Challenge, and the submissions can range from illustration to paintings to graphic or customizable posters to photographs.  I was so excited to hear they are taking photograph submissions! Photography is something I’ve really grown to enjoy these last three years since getting married and inheriting a pretty sweet camera. I’ve never done it as a profession, but it’s really grown into a hobby of mine to capture life in photos. So, I picked a few of my favorites from my archives and submitted them.

As you can see, on the right side of my blog, there’s a “vote” button, where you can view my design page and vote for my designs when the time comes. So, be checking back soon for voting dates. Also, take a look here to see all the artists’ submissions so far. There are some really creative things people are doing! Check out my three photograph submissions below. Hope you enjoy.

Hi friends – This is your friendly reminder that Father’s Day is soon approaching (as in like 3 days), and you may be on the lookout for a last-minute card or gift idea. Well, I’m here to help! I’ve scanned the internet to find some of the most stylish Father’s Day printables out there right now, and the best thing about it – they’re all free! There are some really cute ideas out there just waiting to be used, so get ON it. Just click on each image to link to the website that it’s from in order to download your images. Just make sure to print all your cards on white card stock. Aren’t these designs so great? Click away, and enjoy!

I’ve been on a blog hiatus lately, unintentionally really. BUT I have some great news to make up for lost time – My “Baby Love” baby shower invitation design has been chosen as an Editor’s Pick on! Out of a total of 595 designs submitted, 30 were voted as the top winners, and 69 more designs were chosen as Editor’s Picks. I was thrilled that I was even chosen at all, not to mention a $100 cash prize and 6% commission on all sales on top of that.

I have to say that winning one of these awards was a good morale-booster for me. I can get so easily discouraged as I look at other beautiful work of other talented designers and fall into the comparison game that is so debilitating. Entering this contest and putting my work on the line just reminded me that although I have a lot to learn, and I mean a LOT, it’s nice to know that the art I make is appreciated by someone out there. I feel like I’ve been challenged to push the envelope a little more creatively and have gained a bit more confidence along the way.

So, thanks to you all who took the time to vote and support this little feat. Pretty soon, my design will be up and running on for your purchasing pleasure. And here is the link to the design challenge page if you would like to view the other incredible submissions.

Things have been busy in the Disch household as summer has finally arrived and our schedules are full – all good things of course, which is why I have not updated the blog lately. Hopefully I’ll get some time soon to fill you in on an exciting email I received from (hint: it’s related to the most recent design contest!) and some other design-y related things. Until then, take a bike ride and play in the sunshine – it’s hot but SO refreshing to be outside this time of year. Happy Wednesday!
